About me

Hello there, I’m Ashley Thurlow, thank you for taking the time to look at my details. With over a decade of experience and a passion for helping people, I’m ready to create a safe therapeutic space as you enter into counselling.

Throughout my career, I've worked in various areas, including supporting individuals dealing with drugs and alcohol, navigating through trauma such as rape crisis, and providing counselling for children and young people through their unique challenges.

As a seasoned Counselling Supervisor for over 8 years, I've had the privilege of guiding and nurturing fellow therapists as they navigate their own paths in this field.

At the core of my practice is a deep belief in the power of human connection. I strive to create a safe and understanding space where empathy, transparency, and acceptance thrive. When you work with me, you can trust that our relationship is valued and honored.

I consider myself an Integrative Counsellor, meaning I blend various therapeutic approaches to tailor our sessions to your unique needs. Whether it’s drawing from Person-Centered therapy or integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I’m dedicated to finding what works best for you.

Over the years, I've supported individuals from all walks of life, tackling issues ranging from abuse and addiction to anxiety and self-esteem. No matter what you’re facing, know that you’re not alone, and together, we’ll navigate through it.

I’m eager to explore the methods and techniques that resonate with you, ultimately leading to a transformative and meaningful therapeutic experience.

Please contact me for further information or if you have any questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
