About me

Hello, I’m Annabel and I am a qualified counsellor/therapist with experience of working with adults and young people.

You may be seeking counselling for a specific issue, such as anxiety, abuse, bereavement or perhaps you are feeling stuck or out of sorts.

Whether you are facing personal struggles, relationship issues, or simply seeking personal growth, I see counselling as an opportunity for you to safely explore your emotions and to help you develop coping strategies.

Life experiences can leave us feeling angry, ashamed, anxious, and sad.  I believe that we don't have to be identified by these experiences.  Together we can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space.  I have a real genuineness and an empathic manner, and a desire to listen and to hear you.

I meet clients face-to-face in quiet counselling rooms in both Alton and Winchester, Hampshire, within walking distance of the train station, and easily accessible from Basingstoke, Farnham, Odiham, and surrounding areas. I also offer online therapy appointments.

I offer a free 30 minute telephone appointment to allow time for both of us to see whether we feel we will be able to work together.

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes and I offer both short and long term therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor/therapist, with experience of working with adults and young people.

I trained at The Metanoia Institute, one of Europe’s leading psychotherapy and counselling schools. My degree focused on Humanistic counselling, including the following approaches: Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.

As well as private practice, I work for a charity in Winchester offering counselling to women who have experienced domestic abuse and trauma.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and The Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP), I adhere to their ethical guidelines.

I have regular clinical supervision and I hold full professional liability insurance, and have an enhanced DBS certificate.

My qualifications:

BSc in Humanistic Counselling, with Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person-Centred (Metanoia Institute)

Diploma in Humanistic Counselling

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling

“Understanding Domestic Abuse and its Impact” training

“The Complexity of Domestic Abuse” training

The Freedom Programme training

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
