About me

You may be considering counselling to address family issues, problems in relationships or unresolved issues from your past. Without support life can be overwhelming, stressful and confusing, leading to anxiety or depression. Seeking support through counselling is a significant step forward to work through your issues for a more promising future.

Counselling works! I know this from experiencing it from both sides, as client and counsellor. However experience has taught me that therapy isn't a one size fits all thing, we are all different, with our own unique story.

That is why I choose to work in a way that respects these differences offering you a safe, non-judgemental space to share your story and what brings you to counselling. We'll then work together to determine the goals of your therapy, using my experience and what we learn we will find a way forward that suits you as an individual. This may mean challenging limiting beliefs and behaviours, considering your relationships or evaluating things from a different perspective.

Therapy is sometimes overly passive; I work in an adaptive, hands-on way, with a focus on the here and now. I will encourage and question in order to uncover new possibilities and ways of thinking. Together we can find a positive way forward.

This can start with a half-price introductory session, please email me for more details.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Counselling and I am a Registered Member of the BACP.

I am particularly interested in a person-centred approach to mental health and working with young adults.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
