About me

Welcome, I'm Amanda. I understand that people come to therapy for all sorts of different reasons: big transitions, repeating painful patterns, or simply feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Maybe you're experiencing difficulties in relationships, avoiding conflict, people pleasing, or struggling with unsettling anxiety. Perhaps you've been feeling low, and you're just not sure why. My role is to offer a confidential, warm, non-judgmental space where we can explore whatever it is that brings you here and help you to make sense of your challenges.

I work compassionately, with the belief that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours make sense once we understand the role they serve. I aim to provide a safe and supportive space, while recognising that safety can look different for each person depending on their life experiences. Safety is not something declared, but felt, and I’m interested in understanding what feeling safe means for you.

My approach is relational and collaborative, grounded in person-centered, psychodynamic, and attachment theories. This means we focus on your inner world, your relationships, and your past experiences, while staying attuned to your needs in the present moment. Healing and growth do not erase what we have been through; they help us to acknowledge the impact of our experiences whilst supporting us in finding life and meaning beyond pain. Above all, I aim to understand your experience at your own pace.

I work with adults (18+) from all backgrounds, providing an inclusive space that is sensitive to culture, identity, and your unique experiences. I support people through a range of concerns, most often anxiety, loss, relationship patterns, attachment in relationships, difficult family dynamics, childhood and developmental wounds, as well as the impact of abuse.

Those who work with me often describe our sessions as compassionate and steady, with space for reflection, curiosity and deeper understanding. Clients frequently share that they leave feeling more connected to themselves and more secure in how they move through their lives, with greater resilience and self-compassion.

It is really important that you feel able to connect with your therapist. To help you decide whether working together feels right for you, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call.

If I’m in a session and can’t respond immediately, please leave a message, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. I aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I currently work in private practice and with reputable employee assistance programmes. Previously, I spent four years volunteering with a bereavement support charity, an experience that continues to inform my sensitivity to loss and change. I am a member of Rethink Mental Illness and support ongoing efforts to improve mental health policy and care in the UK.

I engage in regular clinical supervision and have attended my own personal therapy as part of my ongoing professional and personal development. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in HR and management roles, which gives me a grounded understanding of workplace dynamics and organisational pressures.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
