About me

Hello, I am a mature Counsellor who has experienced the many ups and downs of life and understand how difficult the downs can be.  I also understand that deciding that you might need some help can be unsettling and a process full of uncertainty and, perhaps, a little fear.

This is why I offer a Person Centred approach, where you are in control of the session and where I offer you a space filled with warmth and understanding; where you can just be you - warts and all. There is no judgement, just an acceptance of who you are right now.  Nobody wants to feel anguish, grief, anxiety, unbearable stress, or depression, but we all do at some point in our lives. And that is okay, I can help you understand and overcome such feelings and help you to become the self you want to be.

I can also offer EFT, a gentle but effective way of connecting mind and body, allowing you to relieve emotional and physical issues by calming your nervous system and restoring your body’s balance.  It is a combination of Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.  Some clients have described it quite simply as ‘magic’.

I am also a Trauma Informed practitioner which means that I will give you the tools that suit you to help you feel grounded and safe throughout your daily life. Remembering your traumatic event is not required, the goal is to improve the quality of your life.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have, I will always respond, or you can book a free ten minute call.

Training, qualifications & experience

BACP Registered Member

PgDip Psychology and Counselling

EFT (tapping) Practitioner (2022)

I have had much experience in helping clients recovering from addiction through gently exploring past core traumas and experiences, allowing you to piece together your life at your pace whilst being held and heard.

Also, I have a deep understanding of how anxiety can disrupt and shrink your life if left untended and I can offer you ways of helping you to feel safe once more.

Finally, as someone who has experienced the debilitating effects of ME, I am always keen to assist all those suffering from chronic illnesses through fostering a deeper connection between the mind and the body. So often what the mind forgets the body remembers and together we can start making that connection between the two, and, hopefully, allow you to live a better life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
