About me
Looking for a counsellor?
We all have times in our lives when it might be helpful to share our concerns with someone outside our situation. Perhaps you feel counselling could be helpful for you?
I work with both individuals and couples, for an agreed, appropriate period of time which we will review regularly. The aim would be to enable you to enhance your life and your relationships, working within a supportive, trusting relationship.
Our initial meeting consists of a free half hour assessment where we look at the issues concerning you and decide whether we would be comfortable working together. Following this would be a charged hour where we consider the direction and timescale for subsequent sessions and begin our work together.
Our sessions will last for a minimum of one hour but I am able to offer flexibility and longer sessions if this would be helpful. Within that hour I will encourage and support you to gain a clear understanding of your present situation and consider possible ways of moving forward with your life.
Issues covered in counselling can include depression, anxiety and panic, stress, illness, bereavement, problems at work, difficulties in relationships, sexuality, anger, confusion, effects of abuse, making changes and coping with difficult situations that arise in life.
I work with a variety of approaches including CBT, utilizing whatever will work best for each individual client. I have a calm and positive temperament, and am committed to providing a high quality of service to clients.
My Practice is in the centre of Ely, where I am able to provide a safe, relaxing and confidential atmosphere. I am within easy reach of the surrounding villages, and of Cambridge. I am close to the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk, 10 miles from Newmarket on the A142..

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I offer supervision to individuals and groups in the helping professions and teachers, to support them in a confidential setting to deal with the stresses they may be coping with. Often unavailable through work, this can be supportive in maintaining mental health and reducing stress-related illness or the need to take premature retirement.
