About me

My name is Risha

I have twenty years experience providing short term and long term counselling to individuals and couples. I provide support to help improve the quality of lives and relationships

I offer support to help with a variety of issues you need to resolve - be it

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • bereavement
  • anger management
  • loss
  • or anything else

I am here to help you to achieve a more satisfying contented life and feel more alive and vital.

I am a registered BACP integrative counsellor which enables me to take elements of specific theories, tailoring  sessions to suit you as an unique individual, helping you to feel at ease. For counselling to be effective, it is important to have a good foundational relationship between the client and counsellor. I offer a safe, comfortable, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to share the difficulties you are bringing to counselling

I am experienced in stress management techniques and where appropriate can form part of the therapy.

I also have voluntary experience of offering support via Age/UK to older members of the community  who are isolated from their family and experience loneliness n their home

The focus of my therapy is integrative within a framework of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach, combined with Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which is often used as an alternative to CBT looking at improving behaviour issues

I  reside in the West area of the town of Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, a rural area just outside the town.  It is easily accessible whether you are travelling from the East, West or North  direction

During these difficult times of Covid 19 Lockdown, I am able to offer support via the telephone or one line at concessionary rates

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
