About me

You may feel alone or overwhelmed or desperate, even though you have people around you who love you and care about your wellbeing.

It can be really helpful to talk with someone who is not directly or personally involved in your life, and who can be relied on for emotional support without themself becoming overwhelmed or triggered by your experience.

I've been working as a counsellor/therapist for fourteen years with people from all walks of life. I have worked as a personal counsellor with trainee counsellors and trainee art therapists. I am also a qualified counselling supervisor.

These days, I tend to work with many of my clients remotely (via Zoom or phone call) as well as offering sessions face-to-face in a traditional clinical setting. My face-to-face sessions take place at the Therapy Works on Sharrow Lane S11 (two miles southwest of Sheffield city centre and less than a mile from Hunters Bar and Ecclesall Road).

Please also see my website, Viv Webb Counselling, for greater detail about the way I work and how we could work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am interested in the ways we - as individuals and as a society - parent our children and support them into adulthood. I'm keen to support (individuals and couples within) families with their intra-family communication.

I'm also very interested in taking on more work with trainee counsellors and trainee art therapists. Please enquire with me directly about fees.

Please feel free to talk to me about anything that causes you distress or concern - whether or not it's included in the above list.
