About me

How therapy can help you

Not feeling yourself? Struggling with functioning on a day-to-day basis? Or perhaps you feel overwhelmed by feelings and emotions that you don't understand. Perhaps you want to understand your actions and behaviours better and try to change them. Then you have come to the right place.

You might turn to therapy for a number of reasons: having faced a life-changing event: trauma, bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship issues or low self-esteem. You may even be searching for a sense of purpose or direction in life. Past life events can often get in the way of living your life in the present, and you may struggle to connect with others and feel isolated.

How I work

As an integrative, relational therapist I will focus on establishing a strong positive therapeutic relationship with you the client, in order to help you work through the issues you might be experiencing.  This working alliance is vital and it is through this that you can achieve a positive outcome from therapy.

I draw on a number of techniques and strategies in treatment but mostly use CBT, Person- Centred, relational,  as well as psychodynamic theories and interventions. In essence, the techniques and strategies I use will be tailored to your specific needs, so I will never use a one-size- fits-all approach. I see my clients as unique individuals and will treat you according to your preferred way of working and the treatment process is a collaborative one.

You don't have to go it alone.

Perhaps you feel as though no one really listens, or understands what you are going through. You may experience feelings, thoughts and emotions, or even physical symptoms for no obvious reason. I can help you make sense of your physical and psychological responses to distressing events. This is where confidential, professional, help and support in the form of therapy could be the answer.

I can help you understand yourself better and help you increase in self-awareness and self-knowledge and help make sense of your life experiences. I will help you achieve perspective and help you take back control, and provide you with a skillset and strategies to cope better in your life.

I treat clients from all walks of life from diverse backgrounds and professions as well as university and college students. I understand the importance of visible and non visible difference and I will listen to you without judgement, with empathy, and genuine compassion and enable you to grow and thrive as a person.

Therapy is a process and I can help you work through difficult emotions, thoughts, and feelings by providing you with a private and safe space in which to openly explore and understand them. Our work together will be collaborative, and I will help you take an active role in this journey towards improved wellbeing and resilience. You will have more autonomy and agency and feel better equipped to cope with life's challenges.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
