About me

I offer individual counselling to adults and young people (16 to 18 years) and couple counselling.

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that people have the ability for personal growth and change given the right environment- the way you may be feeling right now can be different.

I will listen and totally focus on whatever is hurting and/or hindering you from living your life as you want to at this moment. This may be the impact of difficult life events and experiences, relationships, emotions, thoughts or behaviour.

Person-centred counselling offers quiet time and a safe space for yourself. This will give you the opportunity to face and think about what is going on for you away from influences from family and friends. As our trusting therapeutic relationship develops you may find you will be able to share things that you have not been able to before. This unloading of hidden or suppressed feelings can be very beneficial.

Couple counselling offers you both support with the possibility of getting your relationship back on track or to strengthen your relationship further or to work towards ending your relationship more amicably, especially if you plan to co-parent together.

It is an opportunity for you both to express your feelings and concerns, so that you both feel heard. Listening promotes empathy. This may lead to a better understanding of each other and bring new options within your relationship.

By working together, we may be able to create the future that you wish for yourselves.

Training, qualifications & experience

BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Person-centred counselling can help with emotional or psychological distress, such as, stress, conflict, bereavement, depression, coping with poor health and trauma.

I also work from my private practice in Ashurst.

This experience has given me invaluable insight into the emotions and distress that may arise from:

  • Feeling so overwhelmed and stressed that you are unable to function normally in everyday life.
  • Relationship problems resulting in conflict at home, extended family, with a friend/ friendship groups or at work.
  • Bereavement and grief; the loss of a loved one.
  • Loneliness.
  • Loss of your job and /or employment difficulties.
  • Loss of your home.
  • Loss of physical or mental ability.
  • Coping with change.
  • Life as a carer.
  • Facing difficult decisions.
  • Depression: from feeling constantly in a low mood to problems with being able to get out of bed in the morning or leave the house.
  • Coping with poor health, debilitating illnesses or medical and /or mental health diagnosis.

I strive to give you a respectful, trusting and genuine counselling experience.

I believe in equal opportunities and endeavour to embrace diversity by learning from other cultures, lifestyles and abilities that are different from my own.

I am committed to continuous personal development to improve self-awareness and knowledge.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
