Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MBACP) BA, Dip

About me

Hi, I’m Ginny — a BACP-registered psychotherapeutic counsellor offering a calm, confidential space for individuals and couples. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or simply want to understand yourself better, I offer a non-judgemental environment to explore whatever you're facing — at your own pace.

For individuals I specialize in anxiety, depression, men’s mental health, and issues around shame and stigma. I also work with grief, baby loss (miscarriage and stillbirth) low self-esteem, relationship challenges, panic attacks, and intrusive thoughts. Or just simply wanting to know yourself better. My approach is relational and integrative, grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA) and informed by your unique needs.

TA is a way of understanding how we think, feel and behave and how we relate to others. We all have different “parts” inside us, that show up in different situations – like different voices and modes, we will explore these together.

For couples, I offer a space to slow down and reconnect. Together, we explore how to communicate more effectively, understand each other’s attachment styles, and resolve conflict in healthier ways. My aim is to help couples move beyond stuck patterns and unblock unhelpful narratives, so they can relate to one another with more empathy, insight, and emotional safety.

I offer practical strategies for individuals and couples — including CBT-based tools and grounding techniques — to support emotional regulation and resilience. My aim is to provide a space where you feel safe enough to ask difficult questions, supported enough to face them, and hopeful enough to imagine change.

In addition to my private practice, I deliver Mental Health First Aid training and work as an Associate Trainer with Mental Health First Aid England, delivering sessions in corporate settings and schools. I also volunteer with SANDS, supporting individuals through baby loss and bereavement.

What to Expect:

Step 1

You're welcome to book a free 20-minute phone call. This is a space to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a feel for how I work. There’s no obligation — just an opportunity to explore whether this feels like the right fit for you.

Step 2

The first full session gives you the chance to talk in more depth about your experiences, hopes for therapy, and anything you’d like to focus on. It’s also a space for you to see how it feels to be in therapy with me. There's no pressure to commit beyond this session.

Step 3

If we decide to continue, we’ll work in blocks of six sessions. At the end of each block, we’ll review how things are going — reflecting on progress, checking in on what’s been helpful, and deciding what you might need next. This keeps the work collaborative, flexible, and focused on what matters most to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Metanoia Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy and have qualified with a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. The modality I have trained in is called TA – Transactional Analysis which is an Integrative approach and I use a range of theories from my studies to underpin my work. But ultimately the relationship is key to the success of therapy and that is why I suggest we have six sessions together before committing to the course of the work.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, intrusive thoughts, panic attacks, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem. I also work with clients who simply come to my practice wanting to understand themselves and their relationships better. I work relationally and provide a safe empathic space for clients to explore difficult feelings. Subject to the client’s needs I introduce tools and strategies for coping and soothing difficult feelings including CBT and grounding techniques to client's requirements

As well as my counselling work I deliver mental health first aid training to businesses and schools and also volunteer for the charity Sands.

I work in a safe, non-judgmental, empathetic space allowing you to bring yourself and to just be you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
