About me
Hello.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Choosing a counsellor can feel overwhelming and the thought of making the wrong choice paralysing. I offer a free no-obligation 30-minute telephone, Zoom or face-to-face session to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you and to ease any worries you may have about making your choice and the counselling process itself.
I am an Integrative psychotherapist which means I work with you as my sole focus. I am able to use a number of different methods to help you explore and process your experiences. At the centre of how I work is the belief that you are the expert in your situation and life. My job isn't to fix you but to listen to you very carefully so I can help you work out what you want to change and what you don't.
Whatever your age, gender, sexuality, or neurodiversity I offer a warm, welcoming space for you to process things at your own pace, in a confidential, non-judgemental, and respectful environment. I hope that through our relationship and work together you will feel able to explore areas that may feel difficult. Enabling you to come to a better understanding of yourself, your world and make peace with your place within it, or facilitate you to make positive intentional changes.
I believe each client is an individual and I am not tied to one specific therapy. I work collaboratively and I am able to draw on a number of counselling approaches such as person-centred, existential, and psychodynamic therapy to create a bespoke approach that meets your needs.
Following your lead we can explore with curiosity what has brought you to counselling. We can look at what is happening here and now but also take into account past experiences that are continuing to impact you in the present. We can also consider how communication with people in your life affects you. The more you learn about yourself, who you are and what you want, the more you can understand what you need to be able to live the way you choose.
Availability
I work flexibly between 10 am and 8 pm.
On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings I am available for face-to-face sessions and online work from my Southport town centre office.
On Wednesday afternoons, Thursday, and Friday I am available for online sessions, and home visits.
Weekend work is negotiable.
I work with individuals dealing with a wide range of issues. The length of time clients work with me varies according to the needs of each person. Our counselling relationship is created collaboratively and is bespoke to your needs.
How to get started
To arrange your free no-obligation 30-minute session you can contact me by email or phone, however you feel comfortable. If I am unable to get to the phone, leave me a message and I will ring you back as soon as possible.
Following our initial chat, where we can discuss what you are looking for and decide if I am the right fit for you. If you wish to go ahead I will email you a self-referral form and we can book your first session.
Your counselling will then be arranged to fit your availability. We will work at a speed set by you and what we talk about is entirely led by you. I will not make you talk about anything that you are not comfortable discussing.
Our first session is an opportunity for you to discuss what has brought you to counselling, plan your goals, ask any questions, and experience how we might work together.
We will discuss our working agreement and negotiate how we will work together. I may with consent use a brief assessment tool.

Membership Bodies
I am a Registered member of the BACP
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
