About me
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist with 40 years of experience living and working in South London.
Having been a social worker and working with troubled children I consider my first training in child development. When love is not enough and only deep psychological understanding together with a well thought out skill set could bring about positive change, my interest in Psychotherapy really began.
I have worked with people of all ages and a wide diversity of cultural, professional, ethical, spiritual and sexual backgrounds. This means I am non - judgemental and sincerely interested in your difficulties.
Is Psychotherapy right for you?
You may feel that life is just not working out the way you had hoped, or may be getting to know another person brings fears. A pattern repeats and with help it can be faced and untangled.
Psychotherapy does not offer speedy results. Uncovering difficult life experiences can lead to reflection and the opportunity to see ourself from another perspective.
Choosing Counselling or Psychotherapy - What's the difference?
One difference would be frequency and duration.
If you wanted counselling we would meet once weekly and you might want to terminate our contract as you started to feel better. This could in part be determined by financial and time issues, but the possibility to return at a later stage could be kept open.
If you are interested in Psychotherapy you most likely have twice weekly sessions, as least for some of the time. Together we would explore your personality at greater depth and discover your inner world. Psychotherapy aims at lasting change and consequently has a longer duration.
Both Counselling and Psychotherapy provide a safe environment in which you can let your thoughts and feelings flow freely as they occur.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Counselling Diploma from the Lincoln Psychotherapy Centre.
I completed my training at Wpf Therapy.
I am a Member of BACP Acc.
I am contracted by EAP agencies and have over 30 years experience in BRIEF SOLUTION BASED PSYCHOTHERAPY (5 session model)
Many of my short term clients have experienced anger in the workplace. Exploring this anger and underlying frustrations can build confidence and create options. Learning to express anger appropriately is the desired goal.
I have also counselled clients suffering loss. This may have been a job, a carrier prospect, good health or a person.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
For over ten years I have been supervised and have worked closely together with a fully trained SCHEMA THERAPIST.
You may have an awareness that certain behaviours are somewhat compulsive, but it seems you are unable to think freely about this, all you can think is how it does not work or achieve desired results.
Schema therapy can help uncover the underlying mechanism which could have been developed some time ago or in your early years. What might have been helpful in one situation is now blocking the capacity for feeling good about yourself.
Counselling will help to see your personality makes sense and you can make changes.

Telephone counselling
Telephone counselling requires a firm contract. I would expect to talk with you once weekly at pre booked days and times. It is just as effective as face to face counselling, it seems however to demand a greater level of commitment.

These therapies offer useful tools
I have worked extensively and over many years with this model and it has proven very effective for many of my clients. That would be something for us to explore in our first session.
