About me

Hi, I'm Tracey. I'm a qualified and experienced therapeutic counsellor. I offer face-to-face sessions in Greater Manchester, or online sessions if you prefer.

I trained as a counsellor after realising how much it helped me. I had also been working in other helping and leadership roles, and felt at my best when I was connecting with others. I recognised that I got the best from people when I was really listening, paying attention to what is important to them, and prioritising human connection and acceptance. This is the foundation of my practice today.

My own journey with my mental health, and supporting loved ones during times of difficulty has also informed how I work with clients. I understand the importance of compassion, empathy, patience, and trust - and I strive to offer these to myself and my clients.

I know that starting counselling or therapy can feel like a big step. It can help to know that you’re not on that journey alone, and to work with a therapist who moves at a safe pace for you. I work with clients of all ages - in person, online, or by telephone - and I offer a safe and accepting space to work through whatever difficulties you are experiencing.

The relationship and trust between therapist and client are incredibly important to a successful counselling experience. If you are thinking of working with me, I encourage you to get in touch for a free consultation so that you can decide if I am the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my professional qualification in Therapeutic Counselling, I have a 1st class honours degree in psychology and a masters degree in integrative psychotherapy skills. I am also completing a PhD in Psychology that focuses on trauma-informed care, posttraumatic growth, and strength-based approaches to healing.

I have worked within local charities and helplines, providing talking therapy to young people and adults, with a diverse range of needs and challenges.

I have worked with looked-after children and young people who have experienced trauma as well as young people seeking support to overcome various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and self-harm.

I also teach psychology and counselling students at university level. This work allows me to make sure I am working to the highest standards with my clients and keeps me up to date with the latest research and practice relating to mental health and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
