About me

Hi, I’m Tracey.

Reaching out for support isn’t always easy. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin... and that’s completely okay. Many people come to therapy not quite knowing what they need, just with a sense that something doesn’t feel right.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

I offer a warm, relaxed space where you can talk openly about whatever is going on for you, without fear of judgement. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable, and together we can begin to make sense of things in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

I work with people online and in person in Greater Manchester. Some people prefer the comfort and convenience of online sessions, being in their own space, while others like having a dedicated place to come to. We can find what feels right for you.

At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. Feeling safe, heard, and understood can make all the difference, and I aim to offer a space where you can be yourself, just as you are.

I have a particular interest in trauma-informed care and post-traumatic growth, and I work in a way that gently supports you to explore your experiences while also recognising your strengths and resilience.

Alongside my counselling work, I teach psychology at university level, and I have a PhD focused on trauma-informed practice. I bring this into my work in a down-to-earth way, always keeping the focus on you and your experience.

If you’re thinking about therapy, I offer a free introductory call. This is a chance for us to have a chat, for you to ask any questions, and to get a feel for whether working together might suit you.

You’re very welcome to get in touch, whether you’re ready to begin or just curious about how therapy might help

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my professional qualification in Therapeutic Counselling, I have a PhD that focuses on trauma-informed therapeutic care. I also have a 1st class honours degree in psychology and a Masters degree in integrative psychotherapy skills.

I have worked within local charities and helplines, providing talking therapy to adults and young people, with a diverse range of needs and challenges.

I have worked with looked-after children and young people who have experienced trauma as well as young people seeking support to overcome various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and self-harm.

I also teach psychology and counselling students at university level. This work allows me to make sure I am working to the highest standards with my clients, and keeps me up to date with the latest research and practice relating to mental health and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
