A BIT ABOUT ME
My working career in the corporate world, has seen me in the role of a Finance & HR Manager for more than 20 years. Working closely with people, becoming the 'go to' person and being a natural provider of support comes very easy to me.
I have a house trained husband and two young ladies - one of which has flown the nest and the other is in her final year at uni - although both seem to navigate their way home frequently! I love spending time with my family and am fortunate enough to have both elderly parents living close by.
I'm a keen learner and have attended various training courses over the years including photography, child psychology, NLP and I could go on! I've always been interested in what really makes us tick? Why do we respond to certain situations the way we do? What is behind our unconscious and conscious behaviour? Why on earth is talking therapy the place to go to when feeling 'stuck' in life? Nowadays, I can answer these questions, and more, by working in a more focussed role as therapist and counsellor.
WHY TALK TO A COUNSELLOR?
Having the capability to think, feel and take action with clarity and understanding is about being human. As humans, our thoughts can become problematic and, in turn, affect our emotions. We can feel stuck, isolated, alone, confused, depressed, anxious and just need someone to listen to our story.
As your therapist, I am here to hear your thoughts, to not judge your feelings, and to just be with you in that moment. After endless amounts of studies over the years, the art of talking therapies, such as counselling, is used to help people come to terms with any problems they are facing with an ultimate aim of overcoming them. As professionals our approach is different to that of friends insofar as we are not emotionally invested in you but are professionally invested in you and your journey of change.
WHAT IS AN INTEGRATIVE THERAPIST?
Integrative counselling/therapy is a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific therapies. Imagine a toolbox full to the brim with products (nails, screwdrivers, spanners etc). The integrative therapist has many psychological tools in his/her box.
MY APPROACH & WHAT TO EXPECT
After making your initial enquiry, I will schedule a 30 minute FREE telephone consultation with you to discuss how we can work together. You can use this opportunity to not only ask any questions you may have but to see how you feel about ME! It's imperative for a successful therapeutic relationship that YOU are happy to work with ME. Following this, we will agree to meet for an initial period of a recommended term (but not limited to) of 6-8 weeks at a time to suit.
At our first face-to-face session we will review the contract, discuss and agree your goals and answer any questions you may have. We will then start your journey together.
We will have an evaluation at week 6 and re-contract after week 8 if desired.
My approach is person-centred whereby the focus is on YOU the client. YOU will lead me and I will guide YOU. An integrative therapist uses skills from many modalities. We can work together using one or several of the tools in the therapeutic box exploring your thoughts, feelings and actions. Together we can reach your goal.
I've been working with clients both privately and in a voluntary capacity for over three years. I have been overwhelmed with the journey of change that I have been privileged to be part of with each and every one of them. The reward to me is seeing the transformation in others and the positive change in their thoughts, feelings and actions. For the clients, it's having an opportunity to really explore their inner selves to increase their self-awareness and ultimately reach their goals.
I have trained extensively with Cruse, the National charity for bereavement care, and have been working voluntarily with them ever since. This is a beneficial addition to the services that I offer privately as we may all experience grief and loss in some form or another outside of losing a loved one (jobs, relationships, adoption, etc.) and therefore need specific support in this area.
WHERE & WHEN
Currently, I work out of my home in Ash, Surrey (GU12). The room we will work in is light, airy and peaceful. It will provide you with a space to ease yourself gently into the throws of your new journey.
I work evenings, daytime and some weekends.
There is parking on my drive and my property is distinguishable by the flag pole I have outside... a talking point by many!
Ash Train Station is a 5 minute walk away.
I offer sessions via Skype. This is solely dependent on you having a reliable connection and also a safe and confidential place where you can talk and not feel anxious or worried about other people hearing you.
I work weekdays/evenings and some weekends. I am fully insured and have regular supervision, mentoring and continued training, to ensure you get the best possible service.

I have been working with private clients and in a voluntary capacity for the past three years.
I apply a person centred approach and work with adults (post 18).

- New Clients: £50.00
- Past Clients: £40.00 (For six sessions. Full price thereafter.)
- *Refer-a-friend Clients: £45.00 (For six sessions. Full price thereafter.)
- Check-In (90 min): £60.00 (These sessions are aimed at clients who, post therapy, would like a 'now & again' check-in.)
There is a concessional and discretional fee for anyone experiencing financial difficulties, are students, or on a low income. Please contact me for further details.

Some rules to be mindful of:
Payment to be made by BACS or by CASH on or before the day of your appointment.
Cancellations - if you are ill or can't make your usual time, one weeks' notice is required where possible. Charges apply thereafter for any missed appointments without notice.
Punctual arrival is appreciated to allow for other appointments. Same charges will apply for late arrivals and sessions will be reduced in length accordingly.
