About me

As a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, whatever brings you to therapy, my priority is to ensure that you are carefully listened to with respect. I offer a confidential, safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, learn about yourself and grow. I work on the fundamental principle that ‘talking really helps’.

We all experience difficult times in our lives, or we have issues that are troubling for us to think about. It may be that for you, life is a struggle or a challenge at the moment or there may be specific issues which you would like to think through and now is the right time for you to do that.

In coming to therapy, you will have the opportunity to share and explore your situation with me. I will encourage and support you throughout the process, ask questions and consider different perspectives with you. This sharing and exploration will help you to gain a better understanding of yourself and how you interact in the world in which you live. Rather than answers and advice coming from me, together we will try to help you identify and access your own inner strength and resources to hopefully enable you to grow and move forward in your life.

I believe that everyone is unique and special. With this in mind, my training and experience enables me to tailor how we work together to meet your individual needs by incorporating several schools of thought and a variety of approaches.

I am able to work with you on either a short-term or long-term basis, this can be discussed when we meet, but whichever way we decide to work together you are not committed to any particular length of time. Some people find that only a few sessions are helpful for them, others come for longer.

The most important thing for you is to find a therapist to work with who you feel safe and comfortable with. If you would like to talk to me informally, without commitment, about how we can work together, please do email or phone me.

As a therapist, I have worked with adults and young people in the voluntary, public and private sector. I now work in my private practice in Wallington with adults and young people over 18 years old.

My practice is on bus routes and is a 10-minute walk from Wallington train station. Parking is also available on the road outside without restrictions.

My work as a therapist is enriched by over 25 years' experience of working, as a nurse, in the NHS with families who are living with complex health problems. I am very experienced in working with families from diverse backgrounds and cultures and it has been a privilege to have worked with a number of families for many years. I feel that this work has been invaluable in underpinning my work in counselling.

Please visit my website to read more about me and my practice or do phone me if you would like to ask a question.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
