About me

I believe in healing wounds through warm human connection. I offer talking therapy and psychotherapeutic creative arts therapy to adults, young people and children.

In a safe, empathic space we will gently explore what is troubling you. We can work short- term or long-term, in person or online.

I draw on concepts from Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapies and I use different theories and approaches depending on individual needs. I work in an attachment based and trauma informed way.

Originally, I was trained as a Teacher (BA Ed Honours) and my postgraduate therapeutic studies were completed at the Institute of Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE).

Practice description

In therapy sessions, various creative arts are available, although there is no obligation to use them, and no skills or previous artistic experience  is necessary for a profound exploration of aspects of yourself.

Together, we will find the best way to explore your needs, at times through traditional talking therapy, or the arts, or combined, seeking to achieve optimum results.

You may choose to explore with clay, paints or crayons, movement or dance, music, sand tray with figurines, puppets or other creative ways of expressing yourself in a safe, contained and non- judgemental space. Children do it naturally and adult clients often are surprised how a scribble, or a blob of paint can tell a lot about their unmet needs which were not consciously thought through before.

I do not offer “answers”, but I support you in gaining an insight, exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours, understanding how the past may still be influencing the present, understanding more how current coping mechanisms may work as a form of protection. It may feel overwhelming to try to unlearn old patterns or even tapping into inner pain. But eventually it feels so rewarding experimenting with new ways of relating to other people and yourself.

I have worked with clients’ issues such as: low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, early childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts and obsessive behaviours, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, child sexual abuse, physical health issues, attachment issues and relational trauma.

You may wish to explore a particular issue or to take an opportunity to get to know yourself better and to find inner peace.

My first session

I offer a free initial 15-minute introductory "get to know me" call to discuss your needs.

If we decide to work together, I will ask for some further details at our first full session, and you will also have the opportunity to tell me in more depth what you would like to work on.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
