About me

I am an existential therapist with several years of experience supporting clients in different mental health settings. I also work in the charity sector and have previously worked in the NHS.

I feel that no one knows your world as well as you do. However, sometimes, parts of that world can be difficult to explore and understand. I offer you a safe, secure space in which to do so, enabling you to confront challenges and understand relationships and personal boundaries. You can see how things could be different and what is within your power to change.

My approach involves following a particular method of inquiry to help you do this. I’ll be alongside you, paying close attention to how you express things, through words, gestures and emotions, noticing also how these things feel in the space between us. I won’t direct you towards a particular course of action. Instead, I’ll bring encouragement, challenge and support to a place that exists just for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master’s Degree (MA) in Psychotherapy and Counselling. I run a private practice from home and also work in the charity sector. I am currently studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy.

Over the past 25 years, I also built a career in the technology sector, where I focused on project and programme management and senior operations leadership. This rich experience in a professional environment has proved useful to clients who are keen to focus on their professional personal development.

Having run both careers in parallel for some time, I decided in late 2023 to focus on psychotherapy and left the software industry. This has offered significant opportunities for personal challenge and change.

I have experience supporting clients with many presenting issues, including:

  • Bereavement
  • Long term, debilitating health conditions (both diagnosed and undiagnosed)
  • Trauma
  • Disordered eating
  • Processing traumatic/abusive relationships
  • Workplace / professional challenges (particularly with female clients)
  • General depression and anxiety

I have worked with adult clients of many different ages – from those in their early 20’s to others in their 90’s; across a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, and with several GSRD clients.  I also have experience working with neurodiverse clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
