About me

Hello and welcome. I’m Star, an Asian Third-Culture Kid (TCK)* and a neuro-affirming counsellor. I offer online counselling across the UK and overseas, and outdoor counselling (walk and talk or sit and chat in nature) in central Warwick.

WHO I SUPPORT:
Most of my clients are multicultural and cross-cultural adults. Many are also neurodivergent; whether you're questioning, self-identified, or have a diagnosis, you're welcome here.

These identities and experiences are often layered, and many people have learned to be strong, adapt and perform in order to belong and feel accepted, valued or enough.

You might appear capable and like you are coping on the outside, while inside feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or mentally and emotionally exhausted.

If you have been carrying a lot, adapting for much of your life and still somehow feel too different, too much or not enough, I’m glad you’re here.

In counselling, we can make sense of what you have been carrying and explore how you can meet yourself and your needs with more compassion and care.

If this resonates, I offer a free 20-minute intro call to give you a sense of how counselling with me could support you.

* Third-Culture Kid meaning: Someone who spent a significant part of their developmental years living between cultures or outside their parents’ or passport culture.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:
I’m mixed Thai/Chinese, and I grew up between Thailand and the UK. As someone who grew up between cultures, I understand that cross-cultural life can be rich, layered and meaningful. It can also bring challenges that are difficult to explain or work through on your own, particularly when the tension you carry inside is not understood or validated by the people around you.

I’m also a late-realised ADHDer. I understand some of the internal struggles, guilt and shame that can come with this lived experience. I also value the qualities I recognise in myself, including creativity, resourcefulness, associative thinking, deep feelings and strong intuition.

I continue to learn how to understand and meet my own needs with greater compassion, and supported by neurodivergent clinical supervisor and peers.

MY COUNSELLING APPROACH & STYLE:
As an experienced integrative, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming counsellor, I draw from multiple approaches and adapt them to your needs (not just who you're expected to be).

I naturally tend to lean into parts work, inner-child work, and compassion-focused ways of working. Creativity, breathwork, and body-based practices can also play an important part in my work, because sometimes talking alone is not enough.

My approach is relational and culturally sensitive, and sessions usually feel informal rather than clinical. I'm a human first, counsellor second. I believe in a therapeutic relationship and boundaries that don't block human connection.

The heart of the work is helping you develop a more compassionate relationship with all parts of yourself, and build ways of supporting your needs from a place of care rather than blame or shame.

MY CLIENTS' EXPERIENCE:
Through our work together, my clients often feel clearer, steadier, and more able to meet themselves as a friend rather than a critic. There may be laughter and tears, softness and calm, alongside other colourful ways that connect us. You can expect honesty and authenticity from me, to feel affirmed and validated, while also being gently challenged when needed.

COMMON AREAS I SUPPORT:
Some of these themes may resonate with you.

  • Survival patterns that no longer help such as overthinking, over-giving, over-adapting, perfectionism and people-pleasing.
  • Emotions that feel difficult, such as anxiety, anger, sadness, hurt, guilt, resentment or emotional loneliness that may be showing up more, and sometimes feel consuming.
  • Self-doubt and a harsh inner voice.
  • Identity confusion and shame, cultural transition and adaptation, and belonging anxiety.
  • Childhood trauma, including Child Emotional Neglect and past relational wounds.
  • Loss, change and starting again.
  • Neurodivergent experiences, identity, and needs.

FEES & PRACTICAL DETAILS:
I offer one-to-one counselling for adults aged 18+. A counselling session lasts 60 minutes, and we would usually meet weekly. Bi-weekly session is available upon discussion.

Available services:

  • Online counselling, including telephone and email counselling. £70/session
  • Outdoor counselling in central Warwick, £70/session
  • Ad-hoc sessions are also available at £80 for 60 minutes or £120 for 90 minutes. This can be a one-off or an occasional session.

I invite you to contact me for a free 20-minute introductory call. This gives us a chance to see whether you feel comfortable talking with me, whether we could be a good fit, and how counselling might support you at this point in your life.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
