About me

My name is Stacy, I am a trained psychotherapist and what that means is I work with both your past and current experiences and work with you to try and draw links and better understand yourself.

I trained for 5 years with the counselling foundation, a requirement of my training was to be in personal therapy myself so I know how it can feel to be sat in the client seat, how nerve-racking it can be and how odd it can feel. It is important you feel comfortable and safe with your chosen therapist and that is why I offer a first initial session with no pressure to commit to further sessions.

My role is to work with you to unpick your experiences and help you to form links and understand your thinking process so you can make changes from the route of the problem.

I have a heart for those who haven't felt heard or understood and I will treat what you share with the utmost care. I can offer you compassion where you may feel you haven't received it before, or maybe you feel like you don't deserve it because that internal voice tells you you are not good enough. I can help you discover the roots of that voice, weakening its influence over you allowing you to build a new voice that is encouraging and supportive. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard, what you think and feel really is important to me.

My speciality is psychodynamic therapy, this means I am trained to listen for unconscious communication in order to inform my thinking and understanding. This works by us working together to build a joint understanding of your experience from childhood right through to your life now because all of us are influenced and driven by our past.

Asking for help can feel scary but by reading this far you have demonstrated great courage and determination in the face of fear which is truly admirable. If you would like even just a general chat to get a sense of whether counselling is right for you or even if I am the right fit for you Please feel free to contact me.

Practice Description

I can offer face to face, video or telephone sessions.

I offer weekly sessions, usually the same day and time each week but I am aware this doesn't suit everyone with work commitments so there is room for flexibility.

I also offer both long and short term counselling. Short term is 30 sessions and long term is open ended which means there is no set end date but as and when the time feels right to you to finish the work we will work towards a gradual ending together.

With remote counselling I work hard to recreate the same environment as being face to face so you will always see me in the same room and I do like to encourage my clients to do the same as I know it can be tempting to answer the door, take a phone call or put the kettle on but making the time your time that you allow for yourself without distractions can be just as important in the work we do with each other as anything else.

Payments are to be made 48hours prior to our appointment, I have a 48hr cancellation policy - sessions cancelled after this time will be chargeable.

The First Session

The first initial session will be for me to get to know you and what you would like help with and to explore what you would like to achieve whilst at the same time giving you the opportunity to get a feel for me since choosing the right counsellor for you is important. At the end of the session I will offer you the opportunity to book in your next appointment or for you to go away and think about it, there is no pressure to make a decision on the spot. If you choose to have further sessions I will take your personal details and doctor details.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained for 5 years with the counselling foundation. I successfully completed the 12 week introduction course followed by a 1 year foundation course and then 2 years for the diploma before finally completing my last 2 years and qualifying with the advanced diploma.

My training is Psychodynamic focused which meanin I work with all of you from the little child within up to who you are now helping you to get in touch with your experiences both passed and current.

Our work will help you to think about your thoughts and feelings in such a way that you are able to process them and grow from them in a way that helps you to build a happier life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
