About me

I believe all parts of you, including parts that cause difficulties for yourself or for others, are worthy of compassion, understanding, safety and fulfilment. I think of therapy as a space for you to feel heard, make sense of your past experiences, and build self-compassion, self-knowledge, and the skills needed to live in greater alignment with your needs and desires.

We might explore the impact of traumas you've experienced; your experiences around identity, work, sex, exercise, food, parenting, health, or money; what it means to you to feel fulfilled, safe, or cared for; your interactions with important people in your life; ethical dilemmas you have; or your worries, uncertainties or hopes for the future.

If you’re interested in working together, we’ll start with a free 25 minute exploratory session via phone/video to see if working together is a good fit. I also welcome you reaching out if you want to discuss what you’re looking for from therapy or ask me any questions.

I can almost always reply to enquiries within 24 hours. Please check your spam folder for a response after reaching out and leave a phone number if possible so I can let you know I've replied.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training I have completed

Diploma in gestalt counselling from the Albany Centre
Level 1 in Internal Family Systems
Multiple trainings in NVC (non-violent communication)
Intermediate/Advanced training in Inner Relationship Focusing

My core training has covered a range of modalities. I trained for three and a half years on psychodynamic, humanistic and integrative trainings before completing my training on a gestalt course.

Gestalt therapy

Gestalt emphasises what’s happening in the present moment, offering an invitation to be creative and curious as we find out how things usually are for you, and the possibilities of how they could be.

For example, if you sometimes struggle to be as assertive as you’d like, we could experiment with what it’s like for you to be assertive with me. If you hold anger towards someone that’s never been expressed, we can explore what it’s like to give a voice to that anger in our session.

Internal Family Systems

If you ever feel like there’s a tug of war happening inside your own head, or find yourself acting in ways you didn’t want or plan to, you might have described there as being different parts of you.

Internal Family Systems sees every person as made up of an ecosystem of parts, who are always doing their best to look after us. Sometimes, however, they have conflicting ideas about what that means, or try to keep us safe in ways that seem to make our lives worse!

When we connect compassionately with these parts of ourselves, listen to their stories and understand why they behave the way they do, it becomes easier to help them find more life-affirming ways to act in the present.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
