About me

I am a fully qualified UKCP and BACP registered integrative transpersonal psychotherapist. I like to think I’m not your typical psychotherapist - for one, I am fully aware of the trappings of modern living. Having had a career in the media and running my own startup for many years, I feel these rich experiences (along with the many hiccups and dead ends along the way) have contributed to making me a more compassionate, relatable and realistic therapist. What you won’t find is an inactive therapist who says nothing!

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work, and I hope you will find in me a compassionate, warm and straight-talking human being. My approach couples deep inner psychological work with helping you to find a practical way forward.

Transpersonal integrative therapy covers all entry points into the psyche and accounts for the creative nature of our wounding, which enables a new Self to emerge. I truly believe we can turn our murky stuff into gold.

No two clients are ever the same - I will meet you where you are at.

I see clients face-to-face on a weekly basis in central London for an agreed period of up to 2 years.

Some testimonials:

"Sophie balances warmth, sensitivity and empathy with honesty, and has an ability to challenge and question in a way that stimulates thought and self reflection without ever coming across as abrasive or judgemental. Would recommend her without hesitation.” Testimonial by R.C.

"She creates a haven for me once a week where I can safely explore everything and anything. She's opened my eyes to new ways of thinking, and is genuinely so good at what she does. Above all, she cares deeply and you can tell. I'm so grateful to Sophie for taking me this far and opening my eyes to the power of self-acceptance, and helping me realise that there is a lot of hope for the future.” Testimonial by K.T.

"Sophie has really changed my life." Testimonial by A.F.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an integrative therapist with 7+ years of training behind me (CCPE), I pull on a variety of different tools, such as working with attachment style, setting behavioural experiments, using visualisation, doing Inner Child work, practising mindfulness, body and breath work and accessing the creative imagination, plus many more. I am also a lecturer at Highgate Counselling Centre, teaching developmental theory on the Diploma course, and am a big believer in the importance of psycho-education.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
