About me

I am a person-centred counsellor, specialising in addiction, sexual trauma and domestic violence. I also have experience of working with a number of other presenting issues such as; anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem and self-harm.

As a person-centred counsellor my role is to provide an environment that is non-judgemental, welcoming and is a space that allows you to be open and explore the things that you are struggling with and are holding you back from leading a self-sufficient and fulfilled life.

Counselling helps you to understand why you’re feeling the way that you’re feeling and to unpick what is going on for you in the here and now. This might be due to past events or traumas that are unprocessed or current life issues that you are finding unmanageable. As a counsellor, I do not claim to hold all the answers, but I will work with you in a non-directive and supportive way so that you can begin to understand yourself more.

I have significant experience of working within mental health, including volunteering as a counsellor where I worked with women who were experiencing several issues such as; anxiety, domestic violence and many more, through counselling they were able to feel more empowered, able to manage their feelings and understand the root cause of their behaviours and emotions.

I have worked as a Mental Health Specialist working with women who have experienced sexual trauma, violence, exploitation and trafficking.

I have also worked as a Recovery Worker and Harm Reduction Worker, working with people with different addictions such as substance abuse and sex addictions. My role was to safely support each individual based on their needs.

I am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) which means that I follow strict professional guidelines and code of ethics. I am a friendly, warm and experienced counsellor who will be here to facilitate your journey and self-growth in a secure, safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment.

All counselling sessions are currently online either by Microsoft Teams or Telephone and can be accessed from anywhere in the UK.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
