About me
Hello, my name is Sophie. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist, registered with The Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
I have worked in both community and inpatient settings across different populations including older adults, adults including those with an eating disorder, children and adolescent, people with learning disabilities and people following a stroke or traumatic brain injury.
First appointment:
I place great importance on creating a safe and confidential space where I am guided by your own pace. In the first session, I like to spend time getting to know you, think about what brings you to therapy and what goals you would like to work on in therapy. Ensuring a positive therapeutic relationship is very important and I hope we can work together to understand your current difficulties and explore ways to help achieve your goals.
I am compassionate, honest, and non-judgemental and wish to support you in a collaborative approach promoting warmth and kindness to ensure that you feel listened to and hopefully overcome the challenges you are facing.
Therapy:
I have gained experience of working with a range of different types of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). When working with clients I often draw from several therapy models to help gain a joint understanding of their current difficulties and to help achieve their goals.
I work with people who experience a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, OCD, low self-esteem, eating disorders, PTSD, loss/grief, attachment and relationship difficulties.
