About me

Sometimes we’re not looking for answers or guidance, but for a place where we can be heard…. really heard.

As a Person Centred Counsellor, I hope we can co-create an environment where you can feel safe, accepted, understood, and valued. A place where you can be in this moment – without judgement, or being pushed to move faster than you’re ready. I seek to understand you, the pain you’re going through, and the things that are hard to voice. Through our therapeutic relationship, I believe counselling can help you to find your inner resources and strength.

I’m glad you’ve taken the step to look into counselling. It can take a lot of bravery to make that call and begin the first session, but in my experience, it is so worth it to start to understand ourselves.

  • 10+ years working in the homeless sector
  • 5+ years working with Cruse in bereavement, and with various counselling agencies
  •  Experienced working with presenting issues such as: bereavement, addiction, anxiety, autism, and finding meaning in life.
  • I offer a relational approach to counselling at your pace

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
I studied at Swindon New College with the CPCAB, which is a Person Centred course. There I became interested in relational ways of working and moments of connection between us as a vehicle for discovering our own unique change
  • Level 2-3, CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills and Studied, CPCAB Reading
My certificate is Person Centred-Psychodynmaic Intergrative. I became interested in how we use metaphor, story, and the media we use to express ourselves within that e.g. in the use of miniatures to represent ourselves
  •  Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
This in depth course with Counselling Tutor helped to insure my remote work in safe, confidential and effective
  • Level two in Autism Awareness

The Listening Centre
I did my placement with the Listening Centre in East Oxford which offers low cost counselling. I believe counselling should be as widely available as possible. Major themes I worked with included depression, sexuality, faith, historic abuse/trauma, and people undergoing transitions with their lives.
Hope Therapy and Counselling Services
I am on the panel of therapists with Hope and completed a placement with them before this. Some of the presenting issues I have worked with include: autism, sexual identity, faith, bereavement, and unfaithfulness
Cruse Bereavement Care
I was the chair of client services for Cruse and a committee member, as well as seeing clients to be with them in their grief and provide moments of depth after the death of a loved one. There were moments where I would sometimes be with a client remembering the person who had died, and it would almost be like they were in the room.
Homelessness and Addiction
I have worked in homeless for over a decade with a few charities. Currently I run groups and work individually with clients who have come out of rehab. Within homelessness, I have worked with presenting issues such as: mental health needs, poverty, motivation to change, addiction, offending history, and working towards uses of time that are meaningful to the client.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
