About me

I am a person-centred counsellor based in Aberdeen.

My aim is to offer a person-centred counselling approach, with a confidential opportunity to explore personal and ongoing issues in safety.

My role is to guide you through the counselling process without judgement or telling you what to do. I may give information or offer suggestions at times.

During your time in counselling we would work towards what you want your outcome to be. And at any point if you feel I am no longer the right fit, I would refer you to someone who I feel would be more suited to your needs.

On our first meet (initial assessment) I would assess your presenting issues, reason for counselling, and review my approach with you - looking at compatibility and whether you would like to proceed to regular sessions.

The counselling process requires commitment and honesty from you - with yourself and me. I have a genuine therapeutic intention and dedication, and I will offer you nothing but my honesty and upmost respect.

I offer open ended counselling, meaning you are not limited to the amount of sessions you can receive. When counselling is open-ended, it is important that counselling is not ended suddenly, however I am aware this can happen, so we will regularly review progress to help determine our work together.

Session are 50 mins in length on a weekly basis, with an aim to have the sessions set at the same day and time per week.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am BACP registered with 450+ hours of one to one client experience. I have worked with adults, children and young people with a range of difficulties, such as, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, stress and general life struggles.

I have a post graduate diploma in Person-Centred counselling which I obtained in July 2022, previous to this, I passed a counselling skills course in early 2020.

I have recently completed a specialist course in counselling Children and Young people allowing me to counsel from a range of 6 years and above.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
