About me

***COVID - I offer ONLINE counselling in addition to FACE to FACE Counselling.

Thank you for clicking on my profile to find out more about me.

I offer empathy and care in a non judgmental space. My aim is to offer what I would be looking for myself if I was having counselling. Someone that gets me, accepts all that I bring, and is genuine and honest as they work with me and the issues I share. So that is exactly what I offer to my clients.

You may want to work on how to cope with the here and now; the emotions, feelings and behaviours that you are currently battling with. Perhaps you want to understand yourself better and work with me to understand what might have led you to be feeling the way that you are. Whatever your aims are from counselling, or even if you are not really sure, I will offer therapy where you feel supported to explore and grow.

I work with private clients offering discreet person centred counselling from my own private practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to private counselling, I volunteer for the charity CRUSE (Bereavement Counselling).

In private practice, I predominantly work with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, communication issues, perfectionism and bereavement/loss.

I previously worked within a CAMHS team (Specialising in Children and Adolescent Counselling and Family Therapy). I worked with young people, but also working with parents of children who are attending CAMHS is an area that I have extensive experience in, and support for parents can at times be an area that does not get as much attention, so if this sounds like you, then please give me a call.

I work with clients Face to Face, but in addition, I am an Online therapist, and approximately 50% of my client sessions are through video call. My clients can choose face to face or online, and some use a combination of both.

I am fully qualified in counselling to honours degree level ~ FdSc BSc (Hons), and maintain ongoing professional development and membership of professional counselling associations to ensure that the therapy I offer is up to date and in line with current requirements.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
