About me

Hello,

My name is Sarah and I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am currently offering sessions online using Zoom and in-person in Bayswater.

Throughout our lives we have experiences that affect us.  We may feel that life going well when something unexpected happens, a loss, a relationship breakdown, illness or work-related issues and we might feel destabilised, distressed, anxious or angry.  At other times we may not know why but we feel sad, anxious, depressed or stuck and unable to move forward.  Whatever your experience, my aim is to establish a space in which you feel safe to explore what is affecting you, for us to unfold together what it means for you, and to help create lasting change in your life as you move forward.

Reaching out for support can feel difficult and overwhelming at times.  I offer a free initial phone conversation to talk through your reasons for coming to therapy now, which allows for any questions you might have and to see if we think we could work well together.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

After deciding to leave the private sector and communications industries I began my counselling and psychotherapy training at WPF Therapy (Westminster Pastoral Foundation), followed by Birkbeck University and Regent’s University, where I completed my qualifying training as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.  Having trained at a number of institutions with differing modalities, I offer an integrative approach, drawing on different frameworks to understand your experiences and support you in exploring them.

In addition to my private practice I also work in the charity sector and within educational establishments.  I also have an academic background in Feminism and bring this thinking to my work.

Some of the issues I have worked with in the past include:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Trauma
  • Relationship issues

Women’s health including fertility, abortion and peri-natal concerns

Training:

  • PGDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Cert of HE in Psychodynamic Counselling and Organisational Psychodynamics

Certificate in Counselling Skills

MA Women’s Studies

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
