About me

I’m a qualified, BACP registered person-centred counsellor and CBT therapist. I’m trauma trained and can also offer Rewind trauma therapy.

I have additional training in bereavement counselling, counselling for substance misuse and addictions, working with autism and neurodiversity and mental health.

I’m a trained clinical hypnotherapist; a service I can offer as a stand-alone provision, or as part of a course of counselling sessions.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, eating disorders and weight/food issues, low self-esteem, self-harm, abuse, bereavement, grief and loss, addictions, trauma and childhood trauma.

I have experience of working with and supporting people in the criminal justice system and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma.

I can offer a safe, non-judgemental, professional and confidential space for you to explore and share your concerns, worries, problems and experiences, where you will be heard, accepted and respected.

Making the decision to seek professional help can feel daunting and confusing. Choosing the right therapist for you, where you feel safe and supported to work through the things you need to, at your pace, is important in building an effective therapeutic relationship. I offer a free (no obligation) initial 20-minute phone or online introduction to help me understand what you’d like to get from counselling and explain how I practice, so you can ask me any questions you’d like and decide if I’m the right therapist for you.

I offer counselling face to face from my private, comfortable therapy room, online and over the telephone. I can often work flexibly to meet client’s needs, so please contact me for current availability.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Much of the counselling work I do is focussed around trauma and trauma recovery. I have extensive experience of working with women’s issues, childhood trauma, domestic and sexual violence.

I also do a lot of work around loss, grief and bereavement.

I practice clinical hypnotherapy and have successfully applied it to treat a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, exam, interview and test nerves, phobias, smoking cessation, insomnia, weight loss and issues with food, addictions, sports performance, fear of public speaking and assertiveness/confidence issues.

I have a PAT registered, temperament assessed, insured therapy dog that I can work with if appropriate and I can also offer ‘walk and talk’ therapy for clients who might prefer to work outside of a traditional therapy room environment.
