About me

It's natural to experience emotions such as grief, sadness, anxiety and anger as a normal reaction to painful life experiences such as bereavement, job loss, relationship issues, divorce, chronic illness, however, if negative thoughts and feelings start to become overwhelming, and you feel unable to function normally at home or at work, then may be now is the time to consider a course of counselling to help you get through this difficult time.

I understand how hard it can be trying to decide which counsellor is right for you and to find a counsellor who you can trust and confide in and feel comfortable enough to be completely open with.

We are all drawn to different counsellors and finding the right match is really important.  It needs to be someone who you can relate to, who gets you, who listens to the detail and tries to help you uncover and understand how you are feeling in a patient and gentle way.

I believe that establishing and building trust is key for the counselling relationship to develop. I work hard to help my clients feel that they are ready to open up and feel comfortable enough to be honest and at times allow themselves to feel vulnerable with me.  I would like my clients to feel that they can talk to me about anything without fear of being criticised or judged.

I understand that counselling can make some people feel very nervous, which is why I try to create a space where my clients feel as relaxed as as possible.  As a gentle, highly sensitive and very intuitive person, I treat our sessions and your feelings in a very delicate way and with great care.  I work at a pace and depth that feels right for you.

I work in a collaborative way, and as an integrative counsellor, I adapt the style of my counselling to suit each clients' individual needs.

I incorporate a variety of counselling techniques including; person centred (focusing on the here and now), CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy, useful tools that can help to change behaviour), TA (looking at how we relate to each other) and psychodynamic (looking at how the past can create patterns of behaviour which impact on the here and now).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

The number of sessions that you may want and need can range from a single session therapy session (normally for a specific problem), to short term therapy (8 sessions) to long term work (16 plus sessions and ongoing).

I work face to face from my private practice in Crowborough which is in a very peaceful, private location with easy access and free parking right outside. The space is completely private and has beautiful countryside views which immediately helps to create a calming therapeutic experience.

For those who are not able to get to Crowborough, I have extensive experience of working online and am very happy to offer online sessions.

During our first counselling session, I will ask you questions which will help me to understand what has brought you to counselling, and it is a chance for you to ask me questions about how I work.

I like the first session to be a chance to get an overall idea of your expectations, any previous counselling experiences and whether you found it helpful or not, and what you would like to focus on during the counselling sessions, and which problems that you would like to work through.

The first session is a chance for us to gently get to know each other, and for you to decide if you would like to work with me.

If you would like to check my availability and book an appointment, please email me which days and times you are free. I look forward to hearing from you.
