About me

Hello, I’m Sarah a warm, open and empathic person-centred counsellor offering therapy for adults. I work face to face with clients from a therapy room in Cheadle Hulme where you will find a welcoming, safe, caring environment in which you can explore and reflect on the issues that are troubling you, without judgement.

I also offer online sessions via Zoom.

Life events can be tough to work through, past issues can raise ongoing difficulties, the workplace and relationships can be demanding and challenging. This is where counselling can support you, providing space just for you, a time to talk, be listened to and to reflect.

If you are feeling sad, confused or lonely, experiencing anxiety or depression counselling may help.

As a person-centred counsellor the therapy I provide is non-directive. My role is not to guide you or tell you what to do but I will be alongside you as you gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I will treat you as an individual and without pre-judgment. I appreciate the uniqueness of every client’s experience and by challenging gently and with compassion I will support you in finding your way and understanding what you want to change or achieve.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) meaning that I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions ensuring that I work in the most professional and ethical way with my clients.

For continuing professional development, I attend workshops and seminars on a regular basis and undertake reading to keep up to date with developments and thinking in the therapeutic field.

I also undertake regular clinical supervision and attend group supervision sessions with my peers.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
