About me

As a person-centred psychotherapist, I approach our work together with acceptance of your thoughts and feelings. Above all, I value connection and the therapeutic relationship we can form together. You deserve to be seen as a whole and complex person, with all of your unique qualities and contradictions. I work to provide a space free of judgment, full of kindness and with room for you to breathe.

I'll be honest and transparent about my own experience during our work. Sometimes films and the media portray therapists as sitting in silent judgment and holding power over a client. When we are together in our therapeutic space, we are both equally present in the room, and I will walk alongside you as an equal -- always working to see your viewpoint and to 'step into your shoes'. Our sessions are lead by you.

I offer weekly or fortnightly appointments for talking therapy. These can be face to face in my home garden space, via video/online or via the telephone - I will try to accommodate what suits you best.

There are options for open ended or shorter term work, based on your needs.

However you identify, you are welcome in my practice space. This includes all members of the LGBTQ+ community and those from any ethnic or cultural background.

I have worked since 2017 within a mental health crisis service; for a bereavement support service; with students 16-25; for Leeds Mind general counselling service; and within a women's prison as head of counselling and manager of the women's centre.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a current doctoral candidate with the University of Edinburgh in their counselling studies programme, looking at parental estrangement, identity and shame.

I hold an MA from the University of Leeds in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Level 3 Counselling from Swarthmore.

My undergraduate work was in Theatre, and I have a BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
