About me

Hi - I'm Saoirse! I am a Manchester based Counsellor/Psychotherapist offering counselling in the M3 area of the city centre.

Therapy can be challenging but cathartic. In my counselling practice, you will encounter a judgement-free therapeutic space, one which I hope will empower you to bring your whole self to the sessions and know that whatever you feel or think will be accepted.

I have experience with a wide and varied client base; from children and young people, to adults and older people. I have delivered over 300 hours of Person-centred therapy and in my private practice I primarily work with adults.

I work in a way that encourages and supports you to gain a better understanding of yourself. When we understand ourselves better, it can alleviate feelings of distress, allowing us to function better in our day to day lives.

Person-centred therapy is based on the understanding that each person has unique perspectives or ideas about themselves, shaped by our experiences in the past, our childhood, the environments we grew up in or the environments we are currently in.

What this means is that as your therapist, is that I recognise that you as the client have the greatest insight into your life; how it is to be you, how your environment impacts you, what’s helpful, what is unhelpful. Sometimes we lose sight of this, and this might be what brings you to therapy.

Its my role to support you in working through what may be causing you difficulty or distress and to help you make meaning of how your feeling.

To achieve this, I provide a space in therapy for you which is free from judgement so you can trust that whatever you bring to your therapy session will be held sensitively.

Although I primarily deliver Person-Centred Therapy, I draw on elements of Emotion-Focused Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy where I believe it may be helpful.

I offer an free 15 minute telephone consultation, before you decide if you wish to commence therapy or continue your search for a therapist. Please feel free to get in touch by the email link and we can arrange for a telephone consultation or to book in directly.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
