About me

Hello, I’m Sam, a qualified integrative counsellor working with adults in East London. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My approach

Working as an integrative counsellor means I work with person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT influences, which allow me to tailor my approach. I recognise each client has unique differences, so I work creatively and holistically in my practice. My creativity embraces an organic approach in order to work to your strengths and personal needs. The creative nature of my practice is supported by 15 years as a designer in the creative industry. I hope to offer an open space where we work collaboratively, with trust and an openness to feedback, so our work can evolve and grow.

Counselling

People may come for counselling when they feel lost or stuck in life, and their emotions may become overwhelming. There might be a loss of connection within themselves, others, or their environment. Counselling nurtures our innate ability for growth, and through self-awareness and compassion, you can begin to reconnect with yourself. It takes courage to come to counselling, and I hope to offer you a confidential space where you feel safe and supported with eventually trust in our relationship for you to be your authentic self.

Who do I work with?

I work with clients who want long-term work and may, for example, explore their past and how it influences their present lives. I also work short-term with people who may have a specific goal or problem they want to process. I have experience and work with clients from ethnic, cultural and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

What do I work with?

Areas I’ve worked with include anxiety, low mood, depression, relationship issues, substance misuse, bullying, anger, grief, cultural conflicts, work issues, life changes, gender & sexuality, family issues, trauma, abuse, suicidal thoughts, loneliness, self-esteem issues, career and life choices, religion.

Areas of interest

Difference and diversity were a focus of my training, which continues in practice and professional development. I’m connected with Pink Therapy, the LGBTQ organisation working with gender, sex and relationship diversity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
