About me

Hi, my name is Rachel, I am a warm and friendly counsellor working with adults and young people using a person-centred approach. I focus on the individual and your own experience, using my skills to empower you and help you move forward and facilitate the changes you would like.

I support clients with anxiety, family issues, stress, trauma, grief, bereavement,  addiction, abuse and depression.

I have experience working with a variety of issues including domestic abuse, anxiety, bereavement, addiction low mood, abuse, bullying in the workplace or school, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues.

I work with adults and young people 11+.

I have over 7 years’ experience in a variety of mental health and wellbeing roles. I have spent a significant period of this time working with vulnerable adults within the charity sector. I have supported a wide range of different client groups from vulnerable adults at a women's centre to young people in a high school.

I offer a warm, empathic and safe space in which you are able to explore any issues you wish to bring to therapy. Therapy sessions are delivered in a non-judgemental and non-directive manner where the empowerment of the client is very literally at the core of the process.

I am registered with the BACP and abide by their ethical framework and code of conduct.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified person-centred therapist with a Masters in Clinical Counselling.

I have had extensive training in domestic abuse, trauma and grief, as well as safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.

I have over 7 years working in the mental health sector, working with adults with learning disabilities, working in bereavement services and working with adults suffering from trauma and addiction.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I'm Rachel, a qualified person-centred therapist, with a Masters in clinical counselling. I strongly believe in a person's capacity to navigate life's obstacles by drawing upon our personal experiences and capabilities. In my capacity as a person-centred therapist, I guide clients in exploring the subjects they choose to discuss during sessions, aiming to achieve a deeper understanding of their impact and encouraging positive change. I offer a safe space with an empathic, non-judgmental approach and never pressure anyone to delve into topics they find uncomfortable.

I acknowledge the potential apprehension associated with initiating therapy, especially with someone unfamiliar. To ease this process, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone/video consultation. This informal conversation allows me to learn more about your counselling expectations, ensuring that my skills align with your needs. It also provides you with the chance to gauge our potential collaboration, ask questions, and decide if you wish to proceed with an initial appointment.
