About me

Whether you are overwhelmed or in distress by events in your life, have a niggle that life could be more satisfying, or you are seeking balance and a sense of peace, counselling may help. I am a qualified counsellor and would welcome the opportunity to work with you.

How we would work together
I offer the time and confidential space for you to talk with someone independent, trained and experienced in supporting you to explore whatever you need to.
I will not give you advice or opinions. I may let you know where to find reliable information, however, my main aim is to be there for you, using my skills and experience, to enable you to find new perspectives and your own solutions.

 What we would work with
You will be in control of our aims and might choose for us to look at:

  • Your thoughts, feelings and behaviour in general;
  • What has happened for you to feel like you do;
  • How to cope with anxiety, stress and pain;
  • Your relationships, current or past, to better understand yourself and others;
  • The underlying reasons for your sense of guilt or shame, or
  • All the above.

 This will mean that we will work in a way that is unique to you and bespoke to what you bring, so please contact me, so we can find out if we would work well together.

My experience
You will find some of the issues I work with below. My own lived experience include bereavement in early childhood and bereavement through suicide. Again, please contact me if this means you might want to work with me.

Where we would work
We can work in-person (face-to-face), online or in the outdoors (‘walk and talk’).
We can use creative techniques and imagery, should you wish.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and of the Federation for Holistic Therapists (FHT).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
