About me
My journey as a counsellor has been has taken me from simply being there for friends when they were going through hard times, to my inspirational training and to then work as an accredited therapist.
Although my training was adult focused, I could see early on the importance of working with young adults. I was drawn to this area of counselling. Our adolescent years can be very challenging, especially in todays society, and I thought that therapy at this stage of life has the potential to be life changing in future adulthood.
I was fortunate to be given a placement in a secondary school during my training and as a qualified professional I became the lead counsellor at the same school. I then went on to work in other schools in the local area at the same time.
My passion for helping young adults to grow and to cope with life's problems is still as strong as ever. And my work with this age group has positively benefited my work with adult clients too. After all, we grow from young adults into who we are today.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling practice. This includes a diploma in counselling skills and theory. I also have a certificate in hypnotherapy and counselling skills.
I have three years of experience working with secondary school students, which includes continuous professional development (CPD) certificates for safeguarding and keeping children safe in education training. I also have CPD certificates for working therapeutically with ADHD and ASD, Internet Addiction and Single Session Therapy.
I also complete at least 30 hours of continuous professional development per year in various subject matters of interest that improve my practice and benefit my clients experience.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I was trained in a pluralistic approach to counselling therapy, which means that my approach is flexible as we work together, finding the most comfortable and suitable approach to each individual client throughout our time together. Essentially, I am a good listener and this enables my clients to make their own choices, their own vision of what changes they would like to make.
