About me
I work with clients struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, burn-out, relationship(s) difficulties (breakup/divorce/dating/family) and/or clients going through major life transitions or managing a new chronic illness (such as HIV for instance). I'm used to working with clients who are multicultural and who may have family abroad, and are struggling with their sense of belonging and identity.
I work in an integrative way, which means that I draw on different therapeutic approaches. This means that I tailor therapy to your needs, rather than opting for a single approach. I will support you in feeling more confident and empowered. It's important to me that my clients feel engaged in the process, feel they have a voice and can take up space.
I'm passionate about helping my clients improve their relationship with their emotions. I teach the importance of emotions and how allowing ourselves to feel them helps us identify needs and boundaries, and release unprocessed pain. As a result, they gain greater self-esteem, improve their relationships and acquire better tools for coping with adversity.
You can ask me any questions via e-mail. I respond within 24 hours.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my professional doctorate in counselling psychology at City University London. Throughout my training, I have worked in a variety of NHS services, treating a wide range of emotional difficulties: obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, burnout, chronic illness distress or stress related to life transitions or relationship changes, for example.
I had the privilege of supporting front-line healthcare staff during the Covid-19 pandemic, to help them through these difficult times. I consider myself an integrative practitioner, which means that I value psychological flexibility and try to incorporate different elements that may be helpful to each client rather than promoting a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I integrate individual differences and cultural components into my work and find it important to try to empower my clients to be themselves and help them become who they want to be.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
