About me

What I do:

In a nutshell, I help people who want to become more connected to themselves as well as others in their life.

No matter how insurmountable your challenges may seem at the moment, I believe you are here because a part of you recognises that life can get much better indeed.

Conversely, perhaps you have waited with seeking support due to belief that 'some had it much worse'. Well, I am interested in hearing Your story.

What to expect:

It's very hard to describe precisely what occurs in a counselling session, each therapeutic encounter is unique in the way it explores the past and the current events of your life as well as the feelings associated with the 'here-and-now' of the relationship we build between me and you.

I recognise that each person is different, as such I am curious to explore various ways of communication to support you on your journey; sometimes it may be us just talking about what is troubling you, and we look for healthy ways of improving your situation. On other occasions I may encourage you to listen to the sensations in your body or focus on your breathing. At times we may draw pictures or 'play' with symbolic objects. If appropriate, I may also invite you to express your feelings through movement.

Wherever the process of your counselling takes us, I will always treat you with respect and ask your permission before suggesting any exercises. I will also regularly take the feedback about your experience. My foremost aspiration is that you feel safe and understood in the space we share.

Gradually, you can expect to gain a better understanding of how you became the person you are. You may start to experience increased 'aliveness' and confidence in your choices.

From there, you decide which direction to take next.. Some people want to change, some want to grow,

or it may be that you're after that reliable extra pair of listening ears after a trying week.

Whatever it is, I am here to support you.

Why me?

There are many excellent therapists out there, it's paramount that you choose the one you can feel truly comfortable with.

It can be very daunting, the prospect of opening up to a stranger. I have once been in your place myself, unsure if anything can help yet determined that something has to change.

Therapy gave me the tools to transform my own life, thus, my faith in a possibility of healing being available to everyone is much more than a piece of theoretical knowledge, it transcends my professional training - it is my lived experience, and an inherent part of who I am, as well as how I am as a human being.

I feel very grateful to be able to share some of that journey with my clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
