About me

Are you experiencing stress, anxiety or depression? Life can be overwhelming at times; we can become weighed down by experiences, changes and loss in our life, or perhaps feel lost, stuck or disconnected in some way.

Human issues and experiences can touch and affect us in unique ways: loss, grief, abuse, relationships (past or present), family issues, life changes, loneliness or trauma, and therapy can provide a space to help you explore and make sense of these issues.

How I can help

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and my aim is to provide warmth and compassion and a safe and non-judgmental space for you to speak openly and freely about the issues that may bring you to therapy. Together, we can talk through what is troubling you and I can help you to make sense of things and offer the resources to help you to cope or to move forward in some way.

I work with a range of issues including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and confidence issues, loss, relationship issues, family issues, work issues, stress management, mid-life or menopause and coping with life transitions and transitions. I also work with young adults who may be struggling with the pressure and challenges that they may be facing.

My Approach

Being an integrative therapist, I am able to draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches. As individuals, we are all unique and I believe passionately in working alongside the person rather than a one size fits all approach; being integrative means I can offer a range of approaches or techniques to suit your individual needs.

We may work with the present and explore your immediate and current issues and concerns. We may also explore your past and how earlier experiences may have impacted and influenced you in the present.

At the heart of my approach is the therapeutic relationship; truly feeling listened to, being heard, and given the space to be open and to explore can undoubtedly have a profound impact.

How to get in touch

You can call me for a chat about what has brought you to therapy and to find out more about how I work. I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation with no obligation to book a session but rather to find out if we may be a good fit in working together. Alternatively, send me an email or contact me via the booking form on my website.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications

  • Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (NCS Accredited)
  • Certificate in On-line and Telephone Counselling

Experience

I have worked with clients since January 2021 offering short- and medium-term counselling to clients with a range of issues.

Background

Working as a teacher for 17 years, I became increasingly drawn towards a desire to work in a more supportive role where I could help people to overcome their issues and barriers. As well as being in private practice, I work alongside young people on a one-to-one basis to support them with their education.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
