About me

Hi, I’m Neil and I currently work with both young people and adults, supporting with a variety of issues including depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, anger, self-harm, trauma, relationships and family conflicts. Equally, you might be looking for a confidential space place to just talk freely about how thoughts and emotions are impacting your everyday life in a world that seems increasingly demanding and complex.
The pressures and expectations of life are often overwhelming whilst work, friendship groups or partners can sometimes lead us to behave and feel in ways that often take us away from our true selves. I will be there to listen without judgement so you can begin to untangle the various strands of your life, exploring thoughts and emotions that adversely impact your daily living.

I practice a person-centred integrative approach, tailoring therapy to your unique needs and goals. You may want to explore past experiences or the negative self-beliefs you hold which get in the way of you living your life to the full. I will sometimes be curious as a way of helping you to explore, but always respect your autonomy in charting your own journey.

My practice is underpinned by ethical guidelines and professional standards and your wellbeing is always paramount to me.

I am also currently studying a post graduate course in Life and Business Coaching, so as well as exploring the past and present, you might also want to continue your journey with me and look towards the future, nurturing your personal strengths and values to actively craft a more fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my journey into Counselling 4 years ago after a long career in Hotels. I therefore beleive I bring extensive life experience to compliment my approach as a Counsellor.

As well as a private practice I am a School Counsellor and also provide Counselling sessions to a local Charitable Practice in Newbury for Young People and Adults.

I am currently studying a post graduate Level 7 in Life and Business Coaching

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

If you are a parent of a child under 16 then again I am happy for you to introduce your child before they have a confidential chat with me.
