About me

Hello, and a warm welcome.

I am interested to hear what brings you to counselling. I will offer you a safe space to share your story and to feel listen to. A space where you feel able to say how it is and you feel understood without being judged. I will be genuine and together we can explore your experiences in our sessions.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is another approach I can offer you.

I have a strong belief in humans' abilities to change, to grow and to heal and I feel positive that counselling can facilitate this.

I offer 50 minute face to face or online sessions. Face to face counselling can take place in a counselling room or we meet outdoors for Walk and Talk sessions. The Walk and Talk sessions take place in the Taunton area.

Fees per session : £50 Individuals                    £60 Couples

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member (accredited) with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I studied and qualified at the Iron Mill College in Exeter where I received the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited course) and the Certificate in Counselling.

Training:

  • Attachment
  • Early Trauma
  • Bereavement
  • Working with Suicide and Self - Harm
  • Relationships
  • 80 hour course on Online and Telephone Counselling
  • Couples Counselling
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • The Art of Psychodynamic Therapy

My background is in working with young people and families as well as working in adoption. I have a wealth of understanding of child development including the impact of childhood trauma.

In my practice, I integrate different humanistic counselling approaches. It is crucial to me to work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

My experience as a counsellor includes working with people aged 16 and older, people of different genders, ages, abilities and ethnicities.

Working as a counsellor is a privilege to me and I am very passionate about the difference counselling can make to people's lives.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
