About me

I work with adult men and women of all ages anywhere in the UK offering online video and telephone counselling.

People have said that they feel safe with me, appreciating my calm, non-judgemental approach and my ability to gently notice feelings, patterns and habits which has enabled them to make changes in their lives. I try to connect with the part of you that wants to feel better.

I tend to specialise working with men on issues like: midlife crisis, relationships, grief, being ‘stuck between two generations’, anxiety and anger.

It is vital that your work with your counsellor is collaborative and that you feel in control of the pace of the work. You need to feel that you can build a strong working relationship where you can express and explore your feelings. So I always suggest a brief conversation by telephone or online for you to see if you feel we could work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor, member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling Society (NCS).

Both professional bodies have codes of ethics that I fully adhere to, so you can be confident in my approach to confidentiality and respect.

I have had a career in both the corporate and the public sector. While giving advice is not part of my role as a counsellor, for some it is important that their counsellor has had extensive personal and professional experience.

I have also completed accredited telephone and online counsellor training and this, coupled with my 10 years experience working as a telephone listener, means that I have been able to make a smooth transition to working online and offer a high-quality service, either by telephone or online via a secure video link.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
