About me

It’s difficult finding the right help at the right time, isn’t it? You might have had some therapy that didn’t help as much as you'd hoped. So why work with me?

I know how to help you feel safe again. We can discover what you’ve been through that created the awful feelings in your body, the unwanted thoughts or images, or the fear and sadness that won’t go away. You just know that something is wrong and you want it to change.

Maybe the ways you try to help yourself leave you helpless, confused or ashamed. Together we'll work out how you can move forward, free from the pain and disturbance caused by what happened to you and how you've tried to cope with it all.

I am fully qualified in research-based transformative therapies that reprocess difficult memories and the effects they have on your life now.'

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – this is a powerful therapy that works with  traumatic or difficult memories and how they affect your life now e.g. PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, OCD etc.
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, known as "tapping") – based on energy psychology and acupressure points. Increasingly, research shows EFT can help with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, psychosomatic issues, pain, unhelpful urges, intrusions, burnout and ptsd.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) inc. trauma focused CBT. Focuses on thoughts, and how they impact our feelings and behaviour. It is recommended for a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and trauma.

We will discuss the best way forward to help with your specific needs, so that your life doesn't need to feel this hard.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
