About me

I am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor and therapist working with adults of all ages in person and online. I can speak Chinese and English and offer therapy in both languages. The number of sessions needed can vary from person to person, depending on individual needs. I offer both long-term and brief psychodynamic therapy.

I provide a non-judgmental and containing space for you to explore any unresolved conflicts and issues hidden in your unconscious that may be affecting your thoughts and feelings. If you are seeking therapy for some particular reason, such as depression, anxiety, childhood trauma or difficult relationships, we can work together to explore how your current feelings and behaviour are influenced by your past experiences and get to the roots of the problem. Or if you have a genuine interest in exploring yourself and seeking self-knowledge, as well as relieving symptoms, have the capacity for self-reflection, and are naturally curious about your internal world, then psychodynamic therapy should work well for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a psychodynamic therapist and registered member of BACP. I have always been interested in human mind and behaviour and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Southampton and a Master degree in Health Psychology at UCL. After the systematic academic study, I took up an internship in NHS and worked at Shoreham-by-sea CAMHS and West Sussex Dementia Service. The internship offered meaningful and practical work experiences that is related to the field of my study and helped to shed light on my career interest. After the internship, I worked as a supporting role in various settings including mental health hospitals, Samaritans, and social care services for people with autism. These working experiences made it clear for me that my interest and strength lie in working with people who are struggling with their mental health. To equip myself with professional skills that would help alleviate people’s emotional distress, I embarked on professional training and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

£50.00 per session

Additional information

My fee is £50 per session. The number of sessions needed can vary from person to person, depending on individual needs. Long-term therapy can take a year or more, lasting 50 or more sessions. Brief psychodynamic therapy could be as little as 12 sessions, which aims to work in a solution-focused way and is often done by determining a specific emotional area in which you want to focus on, and looking into this first.

As a registered member, I work in accordance with the professional standards of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). All your personal information will be kept securely and confidentially according to General Data Protection Regulation.

Further information

Psychodynamic therapy is guided by the core principle that the unconscious mind harbours deep-rooted feelings and memories that can affect our conscious mind and behaviour. You will be encouraged to talk freely and explore dreams, childhood experiences and memories. The spontaneity allows for true thoughts and feelings to emerge and I would go along with you in tracing the problem to the personal origins in your emotional life history. I offer you a reliable and understanding relationship for as long as you want to use it, to explore what is troubling you in depth so that you can free yourself to develop a more natural and spontaneous self.
