About me

"Everything has been figured out, except how to live." Jean-Paul Sartre

I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a counsellor and I have been working as such for more than 10 years with all sorts of concerns people bring. It is beneficial for many of us to have space in which we can speak and be heard. Working in therapy will bring clarity in who you are in your work and relationships.

What is psychoanalysis?

There is only one rule and that is to speak whatever crosses one's mind without censorship.  It is also the most difficult thing to achieve.  It is not only that the freedom of speech is encouraged but it is essential to the work.  Sometimes we do not even know what we think before we start speaking; more often we do not know why we do things we do and why we behave in the way we do.  The aim is to discover and learn something about ourselves and then we can make a choice.

If you feel unwell and you cannot figure out why, if you find yourself questioning your relationships, if there is a repetition in your work and love life you are not happy with, there is only one remedy for it and that is to speak about yourself in the presence of another person.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
