About me

Are you unsure about the next step in your life, have relationship issues or maybe you are trying to come to terms with grief due a loss or bereavement or are feeling devastated after a diagnosis of a life changing illness. Do you have low self esteem, depression, feel anxious or lack confidence, these are some of the many issues that motivate people to initiate the therapeutic counselling process. Currently you may feel worried, confused, overwhelmed, stuck, hopeless, or isolated. Life may be an on-going challenge or you may be facing a particular crisis.

Seeing a Counsellor/Psychotherapist could be of great value to you. It is a powerful way of taking control of aspects of your life that you may be dissatisfied with or that could be causing you to feel anxious, stressed, depressed or overwhelmed. Each of us brings our own unique situation and experience and as such I would tailor our sessions to work in a way most appropriate for you as an individual.

I am an experienced qualified BACP Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I use an integrative approach to Counselling which means that I have studied and work with a range of therapeutic approaches.  I can combine a number of key concepts from the three main approaches which are, Person Centered, Psychodynamic and Cognitive and Behavioural therapy to form an approach and way of working that suits you.

Fundamental to my approach is to offer you a welcoming, safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment giving you the opportunity to explore whatever it is that is causing you difficulty at this time as an individual with individual needs. I will support you throughout the counselling process.

During the course of our sessions we will explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and patterns as it is only with increased understanding and self-awareness that we are able to take charge of our lives, make positive choices and to live in a more satisfying way.

At our first meeting we will discuss how often and how long the therapeutic process may be.

As well as my private practice where my experience is comprehensive and varied I also for the last 7 years and continuing work as a Counsellor at a local cancer support centre where I support clients and their families/carers who have been impacted by the effects of cancer or bereavement.  I find this fulfilling as I have a deep understanding from my own personal experience of how you can often feel isolated, or not always taken seriously as to the depth of the distress and pain felt in these circumstances.
