About me

Are you feeling sad, worried, overwhelmed or stressed? Do you find relationships challenging? Do you feel stuck? As a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist I can help you to make sense of any difficulties which may be troubling you.

Psychodynamic therapy is considered a type of therapy which delves deeper to get to the root of the problem. it is usually open ended; there is no set duration but it can end whenever you feel ready to do so.

I provide a safe and supportive environment in which we can explore your thoughts and emotions together. The therapeutic relationship can effect change by helping you to reflect on your feelings. I can help you to see how your past experiences and relationships have had an impact on the way that you are feeling now and the way that you relate to the people around you.

Understanding yourself better can provide relief and help you to make different choices moving forward. Ultimately, the experience of therapy can help you to have a more fulfilled and peaceful life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with people who have struggled with issues that prevent them from feeling settled and content. These have included finding relationships with others difficult, anxiety, bereavement, trauma and a lack of self-esteem.

I have successfully completed extensive training in the field. I have a Certificate in Counselling from the University of Hertfordshire. I then went on to complete rigorous training and gain a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Manor House Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (accredited by the BPC and BACP).

In addition, I have a Masters with Distinction in Psychodynamic Counselling from the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex. I am a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I continue to gain experience and knowledge through (CPD) continual professional development in the form of workshops, lectures and clinical work.

I have a particular interest in the mother-infant relationship and the impact it has on emotional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
