About me

Hi I'm Marc and I have a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy

Engaging in counselling is an act of courage and can be a rewarding and healing experience. I believe that every one of us has the capacity to change and become the best they can be. Coming to therapy can feel like a big decision and finding the right therapist for you can sometimes feel like a daunting task. I believe that the therapy relationship is key to personal growth, feeling understood, supported and helped through challenging and distressing life experiences.

Counselling & Psychotherapy are places to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions. A chance to explore your life direction. An opportunity to pause and understand where you are and what is happening in your life right now. It is a place to explore past and present events or traumas and space to speak out loud thoughts that have previously felt unspeakable.

Sometimes it can be difficult to identify a specific reason for seeking support. It might be a struggle to find a sense of meaning or a way through emotional pain. Perhaps you have never experienced feeling how you do now or perhaps you are managing long term anxiety or depression. Relationship strains, work pressures or societal pressures can all weigh down on our self-esteem and we can find ourselves without motivation, confused and feeling bad.

I provide a space to explore what is going on in your life. Any issue, big or small is valued, together we can work through anything from daily struggles to deep-rooted issues. In a fast-paced world, with constant pressures on us, it can be difficult to find the emotional and physical space for yourself and your feelings. This is what I can help you with.

My approach is based on working relationally with clients, meaning I focus on establishing a safe and supportive alliance, before exploring how past experiences and relationships are influencing choices, values, beliefs in the present. I offer a holistic approach which will support you in recognising and giving space to the difficult emotions and thoughts, which may have been challenging to unpick, understand and express.

In life, we cannot change events that have already happened, but we can change how we feel about them. I will offer you the opportunity to safely share your thoughts, your anxieties and your fears so that we may work together as you find your way to a calmer and more hopeful way of being.

It is my belief and experience that you will get more out of your life if you are willing to change. Change is spurred by a feeling that something just isn't quite right, that something could be better, that there's an issue you want to resolve. Let's work together in re-discovering the world around you and finding your place in it.

I have a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of the West of England, I am BACP registered and trained to work with both individuals and couples. Based in Somerset, I cover Axbridge, Wedmore and Cheddar areas, offering sessions both online and in person.

I know that the first step in seeking support can be the hardest. You want to find a therapist who meets your needs and who you feel comfortable with. I offer a free 30 minute consultation session to all new clients to see whether we would be a good fit to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
